Frequently Asked Questions

An STD (sexually Transmitted Disease) and STI (Sexually Transmitted Infection) are infections that are spread from sexual contact. Unfortunately, most STD/STI are undetectable until physical symptoms start to appear. We encourage any sexually active person to seek a medical professional for testing.

If you believe you have come into contact with an STD/STI, seek a healthcare provider. Most STD’s are diagnosable and treatable. Hope Clinic can refer you to a trusted physician, and give you the information you need to protect yourself and others. You are not alone!

The best way to protect yourself from STD/STI is Abstinence. If you are having sex, we recommend that you practice mutual monogamy, or reduce the number of sexual partners you’re engaging with. You can also lower your risk of infection by using condoms. Condoms reduce the amount of contact made during sex, therefore lowering your chances of infection.
